Does home microdermabrsion or chemical peels work?

My dermatologist recommended microderm abrasion to help fix my skin, but seeing as the acne scars aren’t really all that bad, I was wondering if I really need to go to that length.

In case you were wondering, dermabrasion is a scar treatment where the acne scars are removed by using an abrading tool. This leads to fresh tissue being exposed, which on healing forms a new skin on the wound. I’m not sure if it will help me get rid of acne scars, but it may be worth a try.

Microdermabrasion is similar to dermabrasion but instead of using an abrading tool, a suction tool in combination with a rough tool or crystal blasting tool is used.

I’ve heard the home kits don’t work as well as actually going in and seeing the doctor, however that of course can get pricey. I really want to get rid of acne scars – can anyone help?
